This Privacy Policy explains how SkillUp ("SkillUp", "we", "us", "our"), an online learning platform based in Lusaka, Zambia, collects, uses, shares and protects information when you visit skillupzm.com or use our courses and related services (the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly: your name, email address, phone number and password when you create an account; billing details when you enrol in a paid course; content you post such as course reviews, ratings, forum posts and support messages.

Information collected automatically: log data (IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring page and time spent), and information collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 3 below.

Information from third parties: if you sign in using Facebook Login, we receive the basic profile information you authorise Facebook to share with us. If you pay by card, mobile money or bank transfer, our payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, Flutterwave and/or Razorpay) share confirmation of payment with us; we do not receive or store your full card or account number.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and administer your account and deliver the courses you enrol in;
To process payments, refunds and issue receipts;
To send you service messages (enrolment confirmations, certificates, password resets) and, where you have not opted out, course updates and promotional offers;
To respond to support requests;
To monitor, secure and improve the Services, including understanding which courses and pages are most useful;
To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and technical issues;
To comply with legal obligations.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Like most websites, SkillUp uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and pixels). A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We use the following categories of cookies:

Strictly necessary cookies: required for core functionality such as staying signed in and remembering items during checkout. These cannot be switched off.
Performance and analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the site (for example, Google Analytics) so we can improve course content and site performance.
Advertising cookies: SkillUp may display advertising served by Google AdSense and other advertising networks. These providers may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to serve you advertisements about goods and services that may interest you. We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

With Handsworth Institute, our academic partner, to the extent needed to issue certificates and verify course completion;
With payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, Flutterwave, Razorpay) to process transactions;
With service providers who help us operate the Services, such as our email delivery and hosting providers, under confidentiality obligations;
With advertising and analytics partners (such as Google), as described in Section 3;
Where required to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property or safety of SkillUp, our learners or the public;
In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy continuing to apply to your information.

5. Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Services, comply with our legal obligations (including tax and financial record-keeping), resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account as described in Section 7.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may access and update most of your account information by signing in. You may ask us to correct, delete or export your personal information, or to stop sending marketing emails (using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email), by contacting us at the details in Section 10. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain records.

8. Children's Privacy

SkillUp's Services are intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. International Data Transfers

SkillUp is based in Zambia, but some of our service providers (including payment processors, analytics and advertising partners) operate internationally, which means your information may be processed in other countries with different data protection laws. Where this happens, we require providers to apply appropriate safeguards consistent with this Policy.
