SkillUp is an online learning platform based in Lusaka, Zambia, helping working adults and job seekers build practical, career relevant skills without leaving their jobs, homes or towns. SkillUp is a learning platform provider, not an education institution itself. Every course on the platform is developed and certified by our academic partner, Handsworth Institute, so learners graduate with a credential that employers recognise.
We publish short, affordable, self paced courses covering the skills that Zambian and regional employers ask for most, including project management, occupational health and safety, records management, human resources, ICT, business administration and community development. Courses are delivered entirely online and are accessible on a phone, tablet or computer. They are priced to be within reach, starting from K400, so that cost is not a barrier to gaining a certificate that helps a career move forward.
Handsworth Institute designs and quality assures the curriculum for every course on the platform and issues the certificate of completion. SkillUp is responsible for the technology, the learning experience, enrolment and support. Handsworth Institute is responsible for the academic content and the certification standard.
Accessibility. A slow internet connection or a tight budget should not stand between someone and a recognised qualification, so our courses are built to work on modest data plans and are priced accordingly.
Practical relevance. Every course is built around skills that are directly usable in the workplace rather than abstract theory, so learners can apply what they have studied immediately.
Quality. Course content is reviewed by Handsworth Institute against recognised curriculum standards before it is published, and refreshed as best practice in each field evolves.
