Capacity building in HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support remains central to public health work across the region, and this course is built around that need. You will learn the difference between HIV and AIDS, correct common myths, review current statistics and trends, and study the main methods used for HIV screening and how HIV is transmitted and prevented.
The course also covers the legal rights of people living with HIV, an overview of current treatment approaches, blood borne pathogens more broadly, and the role peer educators play in prevention and stigma reduction, with an emphasis on effective, non judgemental communication throughout. It suits community health workers, peer educators, HR staff and anyone involved in workplace or community HIV programmes.
