HIV and AIDS Management
Build the knowledge needed for effective HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support work, from understanding transmission and testing to treatment, stigma reduction and peer education.
An introduction to the counselling skills, methods and ethical standards needed to support people through emotional, social and psychological difficulties in a professional and responsible way.
Good counselling starts with listening well. This course introduces the core theories and techniques used in psychosocial counselling, including active listening, building rapport, effective questioning and basic techniques for supporting clients dealing with stress, grief, trauma or social difficulties.
Alongside these practical skills, you will study the professional and ethical standards a counsellor is expected to uphold, such as confidentiality, boundaries and knowing when to refer a client to specialised care. It suits community health workers, teachers, HR practitioners, peer educators and anyone who regularly supports others through difficult situations, whether formally or informally.
